Seasons greetings, I've had a few enquiries recently on how I make my veneered 360 herringbone blanks so have decided to make a file. It's a bit rustic and a great deal of credit has to go to Don Ward and Darrin McArthur for the inspiration. Hope you find it interesting

Before emigrating to Canada in 1981 we spent 7 very enjoyable years living in Alloway, Ayrshire, where our 2 sons were born. However, as a Sassenach from Yorkshire it took some time to be accepted :). But once accepted you knew that you could visit anytime, and be welcome. In fact we did that 5 years ago and the neighbors arranged a get together, which we much appreciated. Between my strong Yorkshire accent and the local accent communication was interesting to say the least! I was working on chemical plants at Ardeer, which meant interacting with the "real" locals. It took fully 3 months before we could gave a meaningful conversation without the "head nodding" which meant "I haven't the faintest idea about what you said". For example, it took a while to understand what a "big yin' is :). I travelled with 2 locals, and an Indian gentleman who had an even harder time being understood! I got so that I could understand them when talking to me, but when they spoke to each other it could have been Swahili for all I knew! If by some very strange quirk of fate, I had to go back to the UK, I would go back to Scotland by choice, and not England.

Thank you Eric for a thorough explanation of your method. Your blanks always are top notch and enjoy looking at the finished pens. This is on my to do list for sure and hope I can come close to something like yours. Alot to digest for sure.

When we lived in Alloway I passed Prestwick Airport on my way to work every day. There used to be an annual air show, which included 30 minute flights on Concord, which was well worth the expense! Prestwick was a Concord test center. When it flew over our home at low altitude and put the after burners on the whole house shook, and of course created a lot of complaints!
