Check the US Post Office sight. It hould be under $10.
It depends on whether it is shipped 1st class or priority mail. Priority mail SFRB sent from the post office is about $25 but gives you door to door tracking. First class it will depend on the weight About $10 is about right up to 8 0unces - over that it jumps to over $15 in one fell swoop. Tracking isn't as good and Canadian postal service is not the greatest, particularly if it is going to the hinter lands. FedEx and UPS are probably both higher priced.

What slows the mail is everything gets the once over by Customs. If the declared value is over a certain amount, and I've never figured out what that is, then they make paper work for the taxes owed. Then they move it onwards. We expect those delays and taxes too. Usually 2 or more weeks. Packages are rarely lost just package them well.

Unless the customer specifically asks for FedEx or UPS mail it. The privates ;) always apply the tax and a very high brokerage fee too.

Never use Fedex or UPS to ship anything to Canada, if you do, it'll cost you more than twice as much as using USPS. Plus your guaranteed to have to pay duty if you choose either of them, and normally you won't if you use USPS.

Just to Clarify -- the shipper never pays the duty or taxes they are paid by the recipient.

The only comment I can make is for the shipments safety, use a really good tape on all seams of the package. I have had flat rate boxes opened with contents removed then thrown into a bag saying it was "damaged in transit" but have never had problems with a well taped package.

Good advice for all shipping regardless of carrier or destination
