Center section is wonderful

Maple Burl, Cotton Candy Acrylic blank and color core
Dave... I really like the way the center of the blank came out with the two opposing crescents. Do you have a photo you can send me of the blank before it is turned, so I can understand how you get that particular pattern. Thank you in advance,
Brian

My first segmented pen.

I used only Western Redwood Cedar for the lower barrel ... the lighter looking wood came from one half of the board, and I interleaved the lighter and darker segments for the resulting pattern.

The cap is some locally grown Mesquite (either Northern Texas Mesquite or Honey Mesquite ... I'm not sure)... all my other segmented blank attempts had failed... (it was my first one, after all!) :)

here is one of my favorite pens. made it for a pen swap here on IAP back in 2012 so some may have seen it before. I know its old, but not making many nowadays. But this was great, if i remember, 18 or 19 seperate pieces, 5 types of wood and 11 different materials in total. took about 2 weeks including drying time, recutting etc. fun job.

pics added to post below

A simple Segmented Pen

I thought I would add this to this thread. It is another black acrylic and aluminum pen which I will add to my series of these type pens. This is a Sierra Vista chrome kit. The blank I made is a black acrylic with an aluminum celtic knot. Spun and polished to a high shine. Thanks for looking.

Celtic Knot Pen

After seeing JTTHECLOCKMAN's pen I thought I'd give it a try. Didn't have any type of resin blanks so I used a piece of Bocote. The knot is 1/16" aluminum and the whole thing is held together with CA. This is one of the few pens that I've turned where the turning/drilling took longer than making the blank. I used a skew for the turning and finished with CA. Hope you like it.

This one is a little different. Most of the Celtic knot pens are either 4 or 6 strand. I wanted to see how it would turn out with an odd number rather than even so I picked 3. I liked the 3 strand but added another 3. Technically it's back to six but still looks very different. Some days I just like to be a little creative and come up with something I haven't tried before. Maple and Walnut, all cut on the band saw, and held together with CA.
