I grew up there and could spend hours telling you about different things to do but not knowing your interests or time available, it would be tough to say. I suggest you go and pick up the travel book from AAA club for Southern California or any travel book they carry at Barnes and Noble.
- beach n bikes, hiking the coastal areas, bravely driving the freeways, learn to surf, scuba diving, rent a sail boat or paddle boat in the inner bay,
-Disneyland, Knotts, Queen Mary, Sunset and Hollywood Blvd, Catalina by ferry, San Diego, Santa Monica Pier, Newport Harbor dinner cruise, Laguna Beach arts colony, Angels games,
- there are dozens of museums within an hour
Here's a web site that might help

There's a restaurant in S.B. named Captain Jacks that is awesome, everyone knows where it is.
If you have time, a drive up PCH to Santa Barbara is almost mandatory, 2 hours each way.
Have fun....
