Trend Air Pro/Shield

Just to be clear. I appreciate the discussion about CA fumes FOR OTHER MEMBERS, but that is not MY issue - I use CA very rarely (I'm an epoxy gut). I am seeking thoughts from USERS of the TREND and other respirators. ;)
I really like the Sundstrom. The positive air pressure is really nice...you breath fresh air the entire time your in the shop, which is not something I can say about any other respirator I've used. Over time, as my normal 3M half face masks filters get used up (the pink/mustard ones, for CA fumes and other nasty fumes), breathing gets harder and harder. Further, any face mask (I have both half and full 3M face mask respirators) cause problems where they contact the skin for me. Itchiness, and my capillaries seem to have grown into the surface of my skin..which isn't exactly pretty.

The sundstrom never fogs, either, due to the airflow, so you maintain a clear shield at all times. You can use either just particular filters, or organic vapor filters which will take care of CA, resin, etc. fumes. The filters also use a simple pre-filter, which are quite cheap and filter out most of the larger particulate matter.

It was a worthwhile purchase for me, as it kept me turning. Without it, I don't think the half face mask 3M would have really been sufficient in the long term...and I've never really liked using the full face mask...it always fogs up, is stuffy, uncomfortable, and doesn't really fit my face.

I'm no expert...not even close. But the Trend is for face/head protection. The fan/filters/betteries are simply to prevent fogging up. The soft fabric under the shield around the chin is not air-tight. Not sealed. Dust can leak in. There is no substitute for the proper respirator. I use a Trent. The best info you can get is contact technical at Trend and have chat with them. They know better than anyone. Good luck...be care.
