I'm not sure if I posted this before... I'm beginning by trial fitting. It's a project .... Definitely a 2 man job but I do not have anyone I want to helping me for now. Talks too much, not listening, etc. Has anyone done this. If I DIY I want it to finish looking like a factory job not done by a hacker.
First I tried to duct tape glass to canvas as an anchor so window suction holders could be placed... no good. I'm thinking about an inflatable air bag/cushion behind the glass to hold it for placement.
Has anyone done this with good results? Thanks, Frank

Maybe one of those window replacement companies could repair or suggest a way forward.

When I want something to stick, I use "Gaff tape" or "spike tape" (NOT duck tape!) It sticks to anything like crazy, leaves no glue residue. Not sure about long term in the sun/weather.

Find out what and how the pros do the task, then copy their technique in DIY mode.
Have fun!
I'm in the planning mode right now. I have glass clamps and working on "a plan". 2 pros said they will get it attached with no guarantee. Would let them
do that if I was going to sell it. I'm taking my time.
It's a 2010 Cooper S Laurel Edition with 13000 miles. Runs/looks great. How's this for a nutso agency. They offered $5000 on a trade. Service wants $7500 to replace the top.
I saw this model go for close to $18000 at an auction.

I can use the Gaff as a second hand to hold the glass in place while positioning it. đź‘Ť

Do you use a specific brand... 3m? etc.

Gently; Neither; This is NOT duck tape or any variants; it is a tape that production companies use. It comes in rolls from 1" to 4" width. The one I use is called "Apollo" https://apollomfg.com/collections/gaffer-tape
Be prepared for sticker shock... I think I paid $34 for a roll. Search "production company suppliers near XXXXX". Call ahead; some suppliers do not sell cash and carry. Premiere in Harrisburg PA does though.

Hmmmm..... I checked the specs and it says "outdoor use - Yes". So it may work . I have never used it outdoors though. I don't know if it will react with the clear plastic of the window. If you touch two of the sticky sides together just throw away the piece. You will never get them apart.

My gut… would use it on the inside to hold the window in place. Will glue from the outside. Once the glue cures the Gaff served its purpose. I'll experiment.. thanks.
