That sounds good to me. We might have to give Mredburn a cut though for giving us this gravy train gig. :)

Sometimes There's Only Half of One
Creel Man

Most of the responses here, you guys are closer to finishing than I am, 19 more to go. And if this is the easy one, oh-boy! Can't wait to be slapping my head when I finally see the answers. I am glad I guess right on the puzzle #1 it may be the only points I get yikes!

I may not be familiar with all the answers but when I see them it will be myself that I will be mad at, because I bet I will know more of them than I could think of at the time.

It is now just after 4:00 pm CST, so this puzzle is now closed and no further entries will be accepted.

Feel free to discuss and cuss (off-line) any of this puzzles' words & clues in this thread.

Here's a few to get things started:

PAWN = MONGO
from the movie, Blazing Saddles: "Mongo only pawn in game of life"
note that Alex Karras (Mongo) also appeared in Victor/Victoria - another clue & word in this puzzle

WAR DADDY = MORGAN
Henry Morgan was one of the cast members in the movie, What Did You Do In The War, Daddy
He was also Jack Webb's partner on Dragnet (the alternate clue)

CREEL MAN = ANGLER
Fishermen sometimes use a creel & Angler is another name for Fisherman

SOMETIMES YOU ONLY HAVE HALF OF ONE = NELSON
The Half-Nelson is a popular wrestling hold.
The Nelson family with Ricky Nelson was the alternate clue.

And the head slapping has begun! Yes I was over thinking.

CREEL MAN = ANGLER
Fishermen sometimes use a creel & Angler is another name for Fisherman

Never mind, just saw your post of the entire puzzle.

No problem, just to elaborate:

A Train = GRAVY as in Gravy Train (I even threw in a subtle bonus hint on this one in post #43)

Little Guy = CHICKEN as in Chicken Little from children's tales - also a Disney animated movie

Victoria's Alter Ego = VICTOR from the movie Victor/Victoria

Half Pint = GILBERT Melissa Gilbert was called "Half Pint" in Little House on the Prairie and went on to use that name for her production company

Korean John = TRAPPER from Trapper John in M*A*S*H

never EVER heard of such a thing.

found reference to a movie called "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" - and tried "tinker" on a whim.

You were right Ed, over-thinking was the downfall. At least on my part! I was slapping myself on most of the ones I could not get. Can't wait till the next one though. Thanks for putting these on.

:eek::confused:Let's do the hard one... Now that we have a good idea of what goes on inside of Edgar's mind!:eek::confused:

If you do, be sure to let my wife know. She is forever saying things like "I sure wish I knew what was going on in that mind of yours!"
