New trays and risers are finished and ready for shows. I made similar trays a few years ago but they had a couple of issues. The space between the pens wasn't quite wide enough and they weren't deep enough. The new ones solve both of those issues. I used them laying flat on the table and that made them difficult to see from a distance and it also forced people to stretch over them to see. The risers will solve that problem. Trays are all 1/2 maple and the risers are all oak. Wherever the trays will touch each other there are non slip grippers and they work very well. The risers have multiple adjustments for angle/height. The pens are all very well cradled with no danger of any falling out. The risers all fold flat for easier transport and storage. I'm extremely happy how solid everything is when setup.

Nice Ken!! I like the whole setup - oh, and also the pens....lol!

May I ask where you found the material that the pens sit in? I've been looking for something like that for a display box and am curious where you sourced it.

Thanks!! Kevin

Here is initial post. He said he flocked them. https://www.penturners.org/threads/new-display-trays-boxes.183766/

You can buy trays from various sources. They have been listed here before. I do not have list at hand. But I am sure if you google pen trays you can find them.

Thanks John. Yes I made my own. I've seen the cheap thin plastic ones but wanted something more substantial. They are easy to make.

Thanks John!! I was so impressed with Ken B's display boxes that I didn't think about doing a search before commenting - he showed a perfect solution to something I have been thinking about building for a while. I also have looked in the past and everything I found was cheap looking and not durable, but Ken's looked solid. Guess I will be pulling my flocker thingy out of the bottom of my storage draws!

What size cove and what spacing did you use for the pen slots? I have some purchased ones but the spacing is a little too close for my liking.
