Turned off the edges to make sure it was the proper length according to the length of the needed tube. Turned down but found parts turned easily and others were hard as granite. Anyway, I worked through turning it down almost to the needed diameter of 0.474. I was taking light cuts with a roughing gouge. Somehow, something happened...the catch and the blank shattered and came off the tube. Back to the wood pile.
