Miniature Bowls

Hi everyone, here are some miniature bowls that I made, I like to save all my scrap pieces of wood and this is what I do with them. To give you an idea of the size, the little table with 3 bowls on it is about the diameter of a quarter. I hope you enjoy the photo. Aloha.

Wow, that's impressive work.

How are you chucking up these small bits to turn?

Very impressive.
Most likely using hot glue and a friction holder for hollowing.
Placing a Quarter on the black surface right in the middle of them all would have made the event even more dramatic.

How are you chucking up these small bits to turn?

I use a wooden waste block that is threaded and screws directly on the lathe spindle. I use super glue to glue it on and I use small turning tools that I make out of screw drivers and even a nail or an Allen wrench. Aloha.

I did wonder if , like me , you start with a log similar to that in your logo and work your way down…….

The lower right hand bowl, the white one is a natural edge vegetable ivory from an ivory nut palm, I got it from a Ivory nut palm tree at the Panaewa (Paw naw eva) Zoo.

thanks for that ? I did wonder , at that scale, what natural edge would "hold" on
