Your sentence has a subject-verb agreement problem. A cursory reading of your sentence can leave the reader confused over just whom the subject of "committed" is. Did the Google search commit the atrocities? When the past tense of "commit" is followed in a sentence by the word "by", the subject of the verb is usually follows the "by".
For example, "Grammatical errors were <b>
committed</b> by <b>
Mudder</b>."
You also began your sentence with "but", a useage that is still controversial even in today's "liberated" grammar.
