Over the years I have gotten a catalog from Grizzly because I think I signed for it at a woodworking show at one time. I do not remember. But anyway, I got the catalog today and have to say this thing is getting bigger and bigger every year. It reminds me of the old telephone books we use to get if you remember those you are old. Now I do not buy their tools but was wonder if anyone gets this catalog and do you buy Grizzly tools. I believe we read a few have bandsaws and other tools from them. How is quality and price range?

I don't get the catalog but I have bought some equipment from them.
I have the:
G0462 Lathe (was $800 then, now they are a little over $1000).
G0803Z 9" benchtop bandsaw ($300)
G0513ANV 17" bandsaw (discontinued now but pretty sure it was about a $1000 then).
They are priced a little high but I've had them for a few years now with no problems at all. (Knock on wood). Lol

I have a Shop Fox 14" inch bandsaw that I really like. It is essentially a Grizzly G0555 but not green. Traditionally, Shop Fox tools are made in Woodstock, Illinois and most Grizzly are made in Taiwan although they also have some manufacturing in Waller, Texas and Bellingham, Washington.

Grizzly Industrial is about 10 years older than Shop Fox which started somewhere around 1990-ish. Shop Fox was made by Woodstock International. Grizzly acquired Woodstock somewhere around 2000. Their prices are basically comparable depending on what is on sale but I think the Shop Fox usually has a longer warranty. Mine was 2 years. I've heard it said many times, the only difference is that Grizzly is green and the Shop Fox is white which is basically true.

I think in general that the Grizzly / Shop Fox are a little less expensive than the Jet, Powermatic, Laguna, Delta. I really can't speak to the quality other than to say that I'm very happy with my Shop Fox saw. I've really had no issues other than to replace the blade guide bearings occasionally - and fortunately it is an easy task and the bearings are common sizes.

I have the Grizzly G0555LX 14" Bandsaw and it has been great. I don't work it too hard, but it cuts straight and does the job really well. It was very reasonably priced when compared to other "name" brands.

I have the catalog next to my recliner. I'll look it over throughout the year when the TV is boring and I need something mindless to do. I find the large, industrial tools fascinating.

I've had a G0555 bandsaw for about 15 years. Upgraded with Carter bearings, and had to replace the tension mechanism due to wear. No regrets on that purchase.

Purchased a G0899 table saw in 2020 as an upgrade to a well-used and loved starter saw I handed down to the next generation. I haven't used the G0899 for many large projects yet. I added the Bear Crawl all-swivel mobile base because it's in my basement shop and I wanted to be able to move it around as necessary.

I bought a G0959 12" "bench top" jointer/planer late 2024 to replace a 20 year old 6" Delta benchtop jointer and Dewalt DW733 benchtop planer. The combo is still in the box until I build a mobile stand for it. I'm trying to be more space efficient. Though the combo has some compromises, but the ability to more easily process the stacks of wide rough lumber I have is the main reason I chose it.

I buy from them on occasion. I have their 9 in thickness sander and one of their middle model 12 bandsaw. I have bought a few other thing from them. One of their two stores is in Springfield, MO. My middle daughter has lived there since 2011 and we go to see her about 3 to 4 times a year. About half the time, I go to the store just to look their tools over and pick up WW supplies - sandpaper, hand tools, and even parts.

To me, their shipping it entirely too high, so since I go within 15 minutes of the store, If I need parts or a tool or supplies, I go there. Some of their tools are made by the same company that makes other brand tools, and as such their parts are interchangeable. They have a huge parts supply there also. I order a part ahead of time and go to pickup.

Their store is HUGE as compared to most woodworking stores. They occasionally have a Springfield area magazines in the store, and often have a 10% discount ticket in that booklet. I look for those!

I have the 10x22 metal lathe. It is ok...the tail stock is not the best...when I try to thread metal with dies, it jams sometimes. But I use it for acrylic pens so mostly so it works fine for me. The old gentleman that mentored me in woodworking hated them and always said they were painted with a broom...but that as in the 70's and 80's....my lathe is painted well. The CS was worthless when I called at first to ask about the tailstock tho....Other than that it has held up for 15 years and has been a good investment for me, overall.

I have the G0733 18x47 wood lathe. I've had for about eight years. Runs great and I use it almost daily. I've also got one of their band saws, runs great as well. I shop at the Springfield, MO store as well.

We have the same thing happening up here at Busy Bee. The tool offerings are expanding in scope as well as quality.
Upon close examination of the tools, you can see the family connection between BusyBee and Grizzly.
I recently bought the small 8" planner/jointer combo that was released by both companies at the same time. The only difference is the colour.
I love it, for my ratio of budget to use requirement.
