GluBoost has a lacquer spray. The number of turners who are not satisfied with CA but are still looking for a protective shine, the new LacR' Shot might do it. I haven't tried it but just got this ad in my email.

For those that like to try new things, please give a review of it.
And I am not related to GluBoost nor do I get anything from them. I am one of those people that usually try new things as soon as they come out. But at my age, I am slowing down on purchases. 🥴

Purely on the low odor I may grab a can of this. The complaints from my family when I use lacquer (basement shop) would make you think I'm running a hog feedlot down there.

What is it?? Is it a nitro lacquer, or a CA glue spray in a can. Is there a ingredients label somewhere with a MDS chart? How does it compare to straight up lacquer such as Deft? Deft lacquer can be sprayed many coats just as fast so that is not a factor. Many times it is the amount you spray at a time. If you spray just a light coat you will get speckling and always need to sand before you buff. I use Deft alot and many times the smoothness of the coat is so I never have to sand. Even buffing is not a big deal. Is 24 hours the cure time for it or is there a schedule for amount of coats applied. Finally what is the price comparison? Does this now take the place of all their other CA products? Is it more geared to replacing Instrument lacquers or standard woodworking lacquers. There are differences. I know you say the odor is less and than means the ingredients are different. Instrument lacquers are flexible also and contain ingredients that make it such.

it is not a CA in a spray can. It's the second type of lacquer product they sell ( the first being a "cold checking" formula to reproduce the aged finish on guitars). It smells like a lacquer (just not as strong) and it looks like other lacquers I've used only it sprays much nicer than the can of Wacto I've been using. As for the curing time, I used it as directed on the can and got great results. I personally like a Gluboost CA finish on my pens but this will be my go to for stoppers and larger items and woodworkings. It's also a great alternative for those who have a reaction to CA. Obviously it's not a floor finish but if it holds up to the constant rubbing and strumming on a guitar, it will work just fine on my woodworkings. Anything technical, you would have to reach out to the company. I only know how it worked for me.

Here's what's on the can…

Thanks John. I will have to take a look at it doing some research. How is the price on this compared to Watco or Deft?

Just checked price on their web site and looks compatible to Nitro lacquers. Too new to have any comparisons out there yet.

Thanks John. I appreciate your comments and the video too. Your experience goes a long way with me and with many here. Thanks again for ALL that you do.

We are very pleased that Rick (GluBoost) is sending us a supply of the new product, so we will be able to sell and DELIVER it at the MPG!!
Quite possibly we will be able to show it Thursday night on our scheduled YouTube presentation with Mark and John.

We hope the delivery service co-operates.
Stay Tuned!!
