My 2 cents: All of your pics are clear (and the pens are great).

My opinion is the first picture is a little too dark. I would increase exposure or brightness.
Second photo is excellent.
Third photo, I think the chunk of wood you use to stage the pen competes with the pen. The wood and the pen are too close to thh same colors. I recommend simple backgrounds or staging materials.

While I, too, prefer simple backgrounds, these seem pretty darn good. My only recommendation would be to put the clip up on pen #2. Personally, I like the hunk of wood. It kind of "completes" the story - this is how it started and now it's finished.
Nice pens. The woods on #2 & #3 are awesome. Segmented, too!

Your pictures, as well as the pens, are very nice.
Pictures are subject to individual likes and dislikes. Some like busy backgrounds, some like simple backgrounds and others like no backgrounds. The same is true for props.

For me, backgrounds and props distract from concentrating on the main subject of the photo: the pen. I suppose it's obvious I prefer solid color backgrounds and no props.
Do a good turn daily!

Nice photos, I agree with comments above.

White would probably not be my first choice of backgrounds because it tends to wash things out by overexposing them. My current profile photo stands as proof. I use it for sentimental purposes more than "good photo" purposes.

I would agree with what Don "It_Virgil" said above about individual likes and dislikes.

Having said that many may disagree with me but.. I don't care for the first two photos, the shot from above is just boring and doesn't show of the fine workmanship that you put into the pen. Of those first two I would say the second is better as it fills the frame better and provides a bit more contrast.

The third photo, in my opinion, is a keeper. It's interesting, draws your eye to it. There is enough shadow in behind the subject to highlight the pen. You can see the shine line displaying the beautiful finish. And the subject is complimented by the background. Lastly, the placement of the pen is in line with the rule of thirds which makes it more interesting. Just my opinion. Nice looking pens.

I would ask what the intended purpose of the photos is. If you are showing them to sell, try not to distract from the pen. The second picture does that very well, even though it may seem rather plain.

As for the first picture, it looks like the cap is a bit blurry. I've had a lot of trouble with that, though my new phone does very well. It's annoying when the camera only wants to make a section of the object clear. I find it better to shoot from a little farther away and sacrifice the resolution a little by cropping. You just have to be mindful of the surrounding area as it can affect white balancing.

The last picture is great as far as composition, but doesn't show the pen/blank well at all. It doesn't really draw your eyes to the pen. That looks like a really nice blank, but it doesn't stand out enough.

I think you'll find that pens don't look good on solid white backgrounds for a couple reasons. Something neutral always works best so it doesn't wash out the pen or the background. I like something with a little texture. Also, reminder to self, I really need to lint roll before I start shooting.
