it was around $10. but i just expected it to be more. i'm not complaining, just seems like the kind of thing that would be more . but i guess when you figure out the board foot price it makes sense. wouldn't build a dinning room set out of it.

I paid about $6.00 shipping included on an ebay bid, it also included the carbon dated COA showing over 5,000 years old.

Thats a one of a kind price though, I haven't found any thing close all the other stuff i found hasn't been that old, doesn't come with COA, etc. and it runs around 10-15 bucks each.

this came with the paper work as well. i guess its worth what people will pay

oh yeah. I used to be able to get them all day long for $5-6. Now it's $10+. Give it another year or so and it'll be $15+ regularly.

The problem is that good solid pieces are getting harder to find. The couple guys I know in Ireland and the UK that cut them up start from logs that have a lot of checking on the outside. Takes a long time to dry so that you don't increase the checking and then only the heart is solid for the pen blanks that people want. Here's a pic of a typical log section, a couple of a sculptural piece I got, and a piece of Irish Bog Yew that I'm holding on to.

More artists have discovered this stuff in Ireland and more have started to try to get pieces out. So the prices just keep going up.

Also, if I remember right the big power plants over there have stopped burning Peat, if that's the case it isn't being found as fast as years past also since the turf isn't being dug up as much.
