I am old but so is woodturning so I figured there might be something there. My first lathe, which I got this past month, is an unused but outdated Firsch TC90-100. So, I am going to learn how to make small round things - ink pens being my first effort. I hope you will be patient about my stupid questions.

Welcome Darryl from NJ. You might be lucky for some quick learning - the Midwest Penturners Gathering is coming up in April in Hoffman Estates, Il. Not sure how exactly close that is to you, but attending there, as well as participating here is like a firehose education!

Hope you enjoy the hobby with the rest of us 'old folks'......lol

Welcome Darryl to IAP. Turning things small is a great place to start and some stay in that mode! Enjoy and ask all the questions you want. One great thing about this forum is that we don't usually tell newbies to "do a search" to something that has already been asked. The guys and ladies here are great at jumping in and offering "personal experience help" when needed.

Ask away!

Welcome from just east of you in Oswego. This is a great community to learn from and I would 2nd attending the Midwest Penturners Gathering next April. It's a great way to learn a ton about pen making in a live setting.
