After many hours of study, YouTube, and chats, I made my first successful Celtic Knot "turned" pen blank. I followed the 1-3-2-4 process and used 45 degrees.
The blank is just under 3 inches. Not meant for a pen as it was a practice turn. Walnut with hotel room key card.

Short story behind this venture. My wife is an AKC Judge as well as a 45 year dog exhibitor. Her current show dog, is a female, registered name is Celtic Knot. Her mother which we also have, is Celtic Ink. Anyways, she finished her championship after 3 shows at 9 months old. I plan to make her a Celtic Pen, with the Celtic Knot blank made from Ancient Bog Oak I have.

At first I was going to go with 1/8 inch maple, but I'm thinking that might be too overwhelming for size, but could be wrong. I do like the thin lines more but thinking 30 degree cuts would make the knot tighter??

Please let me know if I need more practice runs or am I on spot so far?
Thank you.

BTW, I really enjoyed my first MPG last weekend. Learned a lot, bought a lot.
