Sierra vs. Gatsby

Probably a really dumb question, but here goes.

I've got a bunch of acrylic blanks that I've purchased over the years that call for a Sierra kit. I don't have any Sierra kits but I do have quite a few Gatsby kits.
1. Are they interchangeable?
2. Can the pen clips be taken off a Gatsby? If so, how? The reason I ask is that on some of the blanks there is writing that goes all the way around the blank and the clip has a tendency to block some of the writing.
3. Which is the best way to orient the pen clip on blanks that have certain features on them (like Military logos, sayings etc.) that I don't want to be broken up?

I'm about 99% sure that the Sierra and Gatsby have the same length tubes and I know they have the same tube diameters, so you should be good to go with the Gatsby kits. Someone much more familiar and knowledgeable will have to chime in on the other questions. - Dave

1. Yes. Even the bushings.
2. ? Never tried it or considered it.
3. I always put the clip opposite of the center of a logo if there is one.

I've never personally double checked but if you use the bushing & tube reference sheets from the library it will tell you if things are the same. It's pretty handy.

I've used it a few times to double check somethings.

I just wanted to add that the original gatsby from PSI doesn't have the best quality control so I switched to the Banker from turners warehouse which is basically a higher quality clone

Exotic Blanks has the diplomat and diamond knurl pens also. I use them all the time

So I had to take a gatsby apart over the weekend. Yes, you can remove the clip. It's held in place by a brass cylinder that goes around the center of the clip assembly.
