I am debating between a porter cable 10" table saw (mdl #PCB270TS) and a comparable jet model. Lowes sells the Porter Cable saw for $599.00. Comparable jet models seem to run about 200-300 more. Any thoughts on either of these?

The Porter-Cable tools carried by Lowes are the same as what used to be Delta. Either saw between the PC or Jet will serve you well. You may have better luck searching Craigslist because alot of people are hurting for money nowdays and list some incredible buys.

+1 for the ridgid much more flexibilty and lifetime warranty:biggrin:

That is for sure even on the 12v batteries

I got the ganate top saw and had a bit of sicking om my miter slots a year after I got it. called them the shipped the top and 2 days later an installer was her to replace it

Just remember to register each tool on line
They even cover the motor and brushes

I have a Shopsmith but real good friend just got a Rigid back in Oct. He really likes it.

I have no problem with rigid tools but what is wrong with answering the OP's question. Rigid was not a part of that. Just an opinion, others will vary I'm sure

Porta Cable is the old Hitachi saw. What saw are you comparing to. It would help us. You ask a question about the 2 saws. Now those that have the saw are going to love it. Those that don't have it can't relate. I suggest you look at tablesaw reviews where people were able to put them side by side. For all we know you maybe comparing a contractor saw with a hybrid. There is a reason for the difference. look at the horsepower of the motor. Look at the construction and the weight of the saws. Check out the ease of use of the tilt and raising wheels. Check out the stability of the fences. Check out the ability to use jigs. Check out if a dado set can be installed. Check out the tilt. right vs left. Check out ease of blade change. Check out guards. Check out dust collection ability. All these things are factors when buying a tool of this caliber. Spend once and be happy. Porta Cable is now part of Delta.

As I mentioned the Rigid saw is in the same price range and is a top rated saw. I do not own one but you see it all the time in the high ranks of the reviews. Good luck with your quest.
