I have an art show with my local art guild coming up in May and needed to make some new pieces for the show. I've shown lamps, hollow forms, vases, chalices and paten sets, and bowls... all pretty much standard fare for the show... this year thought I would try my hand at something new... I had some front faced mirrors that Ed Brown gave me a few years back and finally decided to try them out.... I now know that I suck at cutting glass, but got three good strips for the Kaleidoscope... It's turned from Red Canary wood and the base stands is Lourdes Canales and Ceylon Satinwood. I patterned the Kaleidoscope after one I saw on YouTube by Gord Rock that allows the object chamber to rotate. Mine is a dry chamber but I think I have too many crystals in it to be really effective... may have to try another before the show... mine turns, but tends to bind every so often and the pattern isn't as distinctive as I would like.
But this is what I came up with... it's 8 1/2 inches overall length, the body is 2" diameter and the rotating chamber is just under 3" dia.
