When you search on YouTube, does anyone know what it looks for?

I searched "pen turning-acrylic" as well as just "Pen-turning" and my vids did not come up, but then neither did Johnnycnc's. Are we missing something?

Clues appreciated.

I don't know whats going on with Youtube. You used to be able to type in woodturning and it would list one long list of all the vids. Now it only lists the 10 or so most viewed.

Edit:
Just typed in pen turning acrylics and it showed a couple of Barry Gross's vids along with a few Pennnstate Industries vids

That's odd Ed,
I was just on there yesterday and there was so much info on so many things I had to turn it off because I became overwelmed!
All I did is search youtube turning or pen turning. It should come up. I am not good with computers so I cannot really say why you are having problems. Once you figure it out you will be amazed at how much stuff is on there.

If you search for the most recently uploaded vids in the category "pen turning" your vid should come up

Search options appears under the Youtube Logo and just select the date or period when it was uploaded, week, 2 weeks etc
It generally shows the most viewed vids, to find yours i had to type in Pen Turning and in the Search Options look for the most recent uploads

Keith,

We have to be doing something wrong, cause my older one has been there several months and it doesn't come up. But, I got two vids with less than 500 views on my search--so it is not just "most popular".

Perplexed!

Try using Google

I'm not sure about youtube but if you go to google.com and click on advanced search you can specify the site you want to search (youtube.com) and then by filling in the other blanks you can specify exactly what you want to search for.

I can see I was unclear.

I CAN find the vids, cause I know I am looking for them.

I WOULD LIKE a person who knew nothing about me or IAP or anything else pen-turning related, who does a simple search on YouTube, looking for "pen turning" to get my vids as ONE of the MANY choices.

I changed a few things in my profile, we will see if that helps. MY search did come up with my vids, but then the site knew I had just changed my info, so it could easily have given me results based on my IP address.

Still looking for ideas!! Also searches YOU perform that result in my vids and Johnnycnc's as CHOICES!!

You typed in resin in your description of the vid, there is no mention of acrylic. You probably need to add more tags to it like, polyester resin, PR, how to, be as descriptive as you can in your description, advanced editing may allow you to do this. If you add acrylic into your description it may help

The only way members from the forum can find your vids is from your name or from the name you have already given it, Zebraresin.

Yep, just add as many tags that are relevant to your video, just put up a vid for the laugh but deleted it again

Those terms are in my "tags". But I think you are correct on the title. I don't see how to edit a title, but this tells me what to call the next one(s).

To edit your title, click on My Videos, it will allow you to change the title, description and category. If you put it into the How-to category and put the title in as How to turn Polyester Resin (PR) and Acrylic Pen Blanks you should have no problems. Also make sure your vid is public so it can be viewed by everyone on Youtube not just us who are linked to it from IAP

Sorry Ed, to find it click on your username next to where you log out on the top right of the screen.

Thanks Tony!!

My goal is to have these vids (that I will be producing) come up when new pen makers are looking for information. So, I am trying to emulate the method a "normal person" would use and promote my position in the choices.

Again, if anyone has tips, I am very interested!!!

When I go to youtube yes the first page is of like the top 10 viewed recently. Doesn't matter how many views I don't think. I have an option to go page by page though. I think you might be able to search by submitter also though.

As far as what you might put in the keywords here are some suggestions.

pen turning tutorial, pen turning information, acryllic turning help

Any of these should help in a keyword search.
