How many of you guys do pens with crazy snakeskin? i have the opportunity to get some really awesome dyed cobra skin that really is one of the coolest things i have ever seen and was wondering how they sale... The color scheme is red, black and grey so if color is a preference in sales, let me know! I would get a decent sized skin so if there is a bunch of extra, i might even be able to share!:biggrin:

I cant afford to buy any blanks, but if you have some extra skin to share, maybe a material trade??!!

I hope im not pointing this thread in the wrong direction... Im just curious how crazy snakeskin pens sell, and if i get it i will post some different threads in the classifieds...

You should first consider (1) how well does cobra skin cast and (2) will the dye used bleed into the resin you use. Just a couple of things for you to consider....but you may already know the answer the answer to these two considerations. Happy and successful casting.
Do a good turn daily!

Do you think if it would bleed than i can put a layer of glue or something over the skin before i fully cast it? and also i have successfully cast natural cobra skins before and i am checking with him now to see what tanning processes and dying processes were used... Are there any chemicals of processes i definitely want to avoid?

Having successfully cast cobra skins answers that question. I find cobra the most difficult for me to cast. As far as the dye and chemicals I can't answer that question. I don't even know what chemicals are used. I mentioned it because I've cast some colored skins that bled and turned the resin dark and others worked fine. I have no idea which type of tanning chemicals bled and which did not. Sorry for not being more help. Maybe you could get a small piece and test cast it and see how it performs. Cobra makes a really nice pen and I hope what you have found proves to work for you.

Sonuds like a great opportunity good luck, Reguarding Cobra Skins there are very strict State, Federal and international laws that pertain to the Cobra Specifically. Sometimes you have to have permits to sell Items that are made of things like cobra skins. You probably won't have issues but make sure that it is legal in your state, You can always double check with the US fish and wild life services if you have any doubt
