I would like to try casting PR to see if it is as fun and rewarding as it appears to be. I've got my 40% coupon from Michaels. I'm planning on casting in slabs instead of indvidual molds. My thinking is it would be easier to mix colors, swirls, pearls and all that other stuff. I'm planning on mixing, pouring and curing on my covered but open porch, because of the fumes etc. As I type this it's 104 degrees with 6% humidity, heading for 108-110. Typical June and July weather. Will this help, hurt or ruin my plans. I'd like to mix my colors individually, remove air bubbles, add catalyst carefully, pour and swirl etc. Will I have enough time to do all that before it starts to set in this heat? Any other advice or suggestions?

Thanks,Bob

Bobby,

My first time casting, I was pouring into individual molds. I mixed up two colors, added hardener, then poured and swirled. This was indoors, and not all that hot. I had plenty of time to get it all poured. The next time, I went outside to avoid the fumes. It was pretty hot out and I tried the same process. While I got it all poured and mixed, I noticed that in one or two cases, the mix got a little lumpy before it was all poured. It turned out okay, but I wonder if I should be using a little less hardener when it is hot out or if I warm up the resin. My directions say 10 drops/ounce of resin. I might try cuttingn that in half when it's hot out.
