Wormy old growth oak. Usable?

A friend gave me a bunch of wood from his barn. I have this block of wood I would like to make a pen from as a gift for him. The block was a chunk from the barn itself. I am new to pen making. Is there a way to capture the wormy look with the saw dust in the tunnels in the wood? Seems like when I turn it, it will not retain the look. Thanks,

You can turn it, then before finishing, fill the holes and trails with sawdust and coat with thin CA. I do this while the lathe is on slow speed. Then sand back to smooth, repeat if necessary, finish with normal finishing technique.

You could pressure cast it with clear resin, then you would still have the look of the holes but they would actually be filled.
