There is a Woodworking Show in Sacramento, CA this weekend. CSUSA will be there and Cooks Hardwood, who normally have a good supply of hardwood and exotic wood blanks at reasonable prices. BIL and I are going tomorrow afternoon and Saturday to watch a couple of Demos and pick up some goodies. CSUSA give a decent discount on their stuff 10-15% I would say. There will probably be one next weekend in the Bay Area, there usually is after the Sacramento show.

I volunteered at the CSAUSA booth at the Woodworking Show in Mesquite, TX and got in free AND 20% off what I bought that day.... I helped about 15 people turn their first pen. It was a blast!!

I went yesterday to the Woodworking show. Found some beautiful wood at the Cooks booth. Learned a few things. No show this year in the Bay Area, don't know why not.

BIL and I had a good time. Watched a bunch of Classes and will go Sunday to finish 2 we didn't get to see. Picked up some kits CSUSA and so other goodies at Peachtree and Woodline. Didn't save all that much money with Sales tax, but did have to wait for shipping. I forgot to go by Cooks Woods before leaving to pick up some blanks will do that in the morning. Talked to Jim Heavey for Wood Magazine, he said the Economy has hit hard and the big tool people didn't attened this year and some venues droped out for the same reason. Were you sitting in the front row at the "Ship Shape Shop" class Friday afternoon about 4:30? If so I was behind you and had talked to the lady next to you (your partner?) If so, I didn't see you face when you sat down or I would have said Hi.

Tom,
No, it wasn't me. At that time I was at Cook's picking some some wood. They certainly had beautiful wood. I would recommend them to anyone. Great wood, nice prices and they ship. It was a smaller crowd, but certainly a lot of see and learn. Sorry I didn't see you there. Hope you can make it to the next get together.

Cindy, You were only a couple of hours or so away at SAC... it's a nice drive up there.....

Unless you drive like my former boss... he was going from Sunnyvale to Sacramento one night... he made it in an hour... he got stopped twice by the CHP, but he called back to the office just about an hour after he left to tell us he was there.

I've been gone since 1980 and still miss the Bay area.

Cooks Woods is neat. BIL has bought some nice big slabs for table tops from them. I have bought mainly Pen blanks from them. Next spring we are taking our wives up to Seattle and will be stoping at Cooks woods and buying some project wood for a entertainment center and some tables.
Sorry I missed you.
