When did that happen? Went out there today on the way back from HF, since they are right near each other and its closed, empty, even the woodcraft plaza sign is missing the woodcraft in it now.

I blame myself, i stopped shopping there about 5 months ago when i sold everything and see what happens!

It really sorta sucks, cause if I get back into it, I hate having to order everything online. There was a great group of employees there and the manager Bob was great to deal with.

Oh well just another sign of the times I guess..

Their lease was up and the owner of the property wanted too much money!
After 12 years in their basement for our meetings Chicago Woodturners was displaced!

Well that sucks for you guys, but I am glad to see them moved, I am sure the rent is cheaper at the new location and its great for the customers, as they are out of the great cook county and 10% sales tax!!

That may be true but they are also out of any range for their old customers!
There is a woodcraft in Woodridge which is closer to me, but we had a sweet deal in Palatine for the club! We had a huge room in the basement and could leave everything there all the time. We could have all day Saturday demos and all day 3 day classes with world famous turners. Most of our stuff is in somebodies garage. We have a new place for meetings for now. Very small compared to what we had and all the major demos are put on hold until we find a venu for those.
The new place is ok for now but with 165 plus members we are packed into the room like sardines.
Sorry--- just venting.
Don't get me wrong the persons who searched for a new place did a good job and we greatly appreciate all of their hard searching. It is just difficult to find anything close to what we had in Palatine. The club was extremely spoiled!
