This is the best place on the net for pens with a fortune of wealth & knowledge. I just got a bigger lathe and getting into other turnings. What are a few of the top forums out there for wood turning. After spending a few years here you tend to get spoiled. So I know it would be a tall order to be close to as good as here.

Thanks for your help
Bruce

I'm no forum expert, but this one (IAP that is) is by far the best one I've been a part of. As far as a purely turning forum, Woodturners Resource is a pretty good one.

While I think this is best, and only in my mind, forum for pen making, I have spent quite a bit of time over a sawmillcreek.

There are a lot of very skilled turners that participate in the turner's forum. It is also a mix of basic turners and pieces, to very advanced.

Bruce not a forum but the WoodCraft in Clearwater has a club that meets there one eve. a month it has some great turners and occasional guest turners doing demos might be worth the trip down

Thanks John I am a member of the Tri Co. Wood Turners in Lutz for over a year now. I joined the club mainly for a source of wood but now I find myself interested in making some bigger stuff.

I was fishing for links & info. now I can start to fill a new favorites file.

I guess I'm going to be looking for some faceplates also and then a chuck a little later on and so on and so on. But you know on SSDI it's a little slow going. I mite post in the trade forum and see if any one has a few unwanted faceplates. I got a 12 x 20 jet.

Thanks for the links guys

I have the same lathe, it's a nice little lather. There are quite a few guys on woodturnersresource.com that have that lathe and make some nice stuff.

Watch this page and see if Don has any faceoplate seconds...he sells them very cheap. http://www.donpencil.com/SECONDS.htm

In the mean time you could go buy a 1x8 tpi nut and either epoxy a wood face to it or have someone weld a circle of steel on to it.
