Wood ID

Hi friends, any chance anyone can ID this wood for me? Attached are some (bad) photos of the wood, the bark, and the tree when it was standing. Looks like one of those types with multiple trunks and fresh shoots coming out all over the place. Thanks in advance for trying!

Crape Myrtles grow like that, but from what I can see, the leaves look more like Elm.

A few good pictures of the leaves would be very helpful.

Sorry, as I cut into this piece, it looks different. The heartwood is a lovely medium brown.
