This is a blank that was included in a pack from Nolan that was sharpie labeled what looked like "Maria". It looks a good bit like African Padauk but that's not what it was labeled. So any guesses before Nolan shows up and makes us all look stupid?

Looks like some Narra that I have seen. Narra has a variety of reds and oranges and yellows. Narra is also wood that give us amboyna burls. At least that is how locals often refer to amboyna burls - in translation.

The name "Maria" could easily be confused with a quickly written "Narra".

That N had one to many lines in it there Nolan. the color and smell was screaming Pterocarpus to me, but I never second guess you on the name, mainly cause I don't know anywhere near enough (for all I knew, you had started naming individual trees "this one came from Maria, this one from Evelyn.....)

Thanks guys. She'll be in the wood library later today.
