This wood came from my yard today and thought i would see if anyone can guesswhat it is.About 5 inches long and turned to about 1/2 to 3/4 around.I'll check back tommorrow to see if anybody can guess.[}:)]

Give it a good whiff. Maybe, just maybe...if you are truly fortunate...it is that highly prized wood that only comes from the outhouse door on a tuna boat. :)

You are making this tough because I think it is wood we usually think of as wood- meaning a shrub. So if I had to guess, at least from a Northern perspective, I would say butterfly bush. Bob I.
 
I'm gonna guess Hickory or the closely related Pecan. I had some in my yard, now I have a little table made out of it. Hickory is also used for yard tool handles, so it's probably in most backyards/sheds.
 
Alright, I guess i'll have to give. It is a branch off of one of my rose bushes. Not that it matters but i think its from my "Blue Girl". Was pruning them the other day and some of the old growth branches were big enough to turn, so...... Would have to be stabilized and has a soft 1/4 ' size pith in the middle but i have seen stranger things turned. Now to get some kudzu and try that.
