I hbope this the right place to post this.. I have been given two pieces of Beech wood About 8" in diameter and 2' in length. What is the best way of drying these? They have been cut for about 2 months. This wood has sentimental value they want pens and bottle stoppers out of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

I would cut it now, seal the ends with AnchorSeal. And allow to dry for a little while longer in a warm place, but not out in the sun.

If the pith is still in the wood (the logs have not been cut in half lengthwise) I would slab cut the logs to eliminate the pith. Then you can airdry the wood by sealing the cut ends with sealer of some kind and placing in a dry area. It will take approximately 1 yr per inch thickness in most areas of the country. Good luck
