I'm not sure if this process is right or wrong; unique or common. But I want to share in case it's interesting. |
25: Wood Burning Straight Lines
last post: 24- Consistent Facet Width Jig
My line cutters is basically a soldering iron with a straight blade used to cut and fuse nylon cords.
I wondered if it could add interesting design elements to wood center bands.

Process
(Not rocket surgery, just how I did it.)
I cut a thick (0.45") piece of hard maple and drilled 0.25" holes before separating into squares.
Mounted and turned.
To space the lines evenly(ish) I installed my octagonal guide on the lathe and lined up the corners with the rest to mark off 45 degrees.
Burned lines
I was curious how the "straight" burned lines would look between zebra wood.
Thanks for looking
