I've been sitting around either the lathe or the computer for days now. I'm still working on dowels before I "attack" any hardwood for the first time.(not enough smiley faces to choose one.)

I'm aiming to develop a stylus for - KC slimline kit - where a piece of softwood will take the place of the "pen/ink insert."

Has anyone used these "duplicators" with your lathe? If so, do you think I'd be able to duplicate in wood the image of a pen-refill if I started with a small enough piece of wood? [:I]

I think someone has done this already: useing the points for soft tip darts. they are threaded at the base or could be shaped to go through the nib. I've been thinking of putting one in the top end of the little plastic piece in the transmission and putting a nib on both ends of a parker type pen so that when you retract the pen refill the stylus comes out the other end. Maybe a double ended cigar.
