This is what greeted me this morning. It's only October 11. There's about 7 inches now and still snowing. Temperature is 31.6F This stuff is really wet. NOAA is predicting another 10 inches by tomorrow night and a 60% chance of precipitation on Monday. I know this is probably my fault since I bought a brand new carbon fiber road bike several weeks ago and have been riding 15-20 miles every day at lunch. I'm getting in shape for some century rides next year.

And when we do get any, nobody knows how to drive in it.

It's pretty simple, really. You just have to slow down to about 70 mph..
at least till you get out of the driveway.. or until you get out of reverse.

But then, I'm in New England. We can put on the tire chains in the morning
and then need to run the AC in the afternoon.

It's typical fall weather here. Overcast the past couple days, foggy and rainy today. I was supposed to get up on the roof and cover the swamp cooler. No way with the roof wet. I'll just have to deal with the heat leaking out.

I put a new blower motor in the furnace today though. Man, the house heats up quick now. I never realized how bad that old one was.

I need to send this picture to my sister in Billings just in case she hasn't gotten out of bed and checked the weather yet....LOL

If she lives in the city limits, she didn't see anything like this. We're about 600-700 feet higher than Billings and always get more snow. My wife and I went into town late this afternoon and there was only a couple inches, but lots of broken tree limbs everywhere.

Snow is pretty to look at... from a distance or in a picture...
I don't envy you at all, I'm not a winter person. You have to wear too many clothes. Shorts and a t-shirt, and barefooted is more my speed... My first choice of locations would be somewhere down around the equator (if I had a choice)
The first year I moved back to Texas (1980) winter was on Feb 16, 1981 from 6 am til noon. I woke up to 16 deg weather, but by lunch it was up to 62 deg and didn't get cold again the rest of the year. My kind of winter.
We'll get a little snow here in east Tennessee, but not much like it used to do (so all the locals tell me).. this is about as far north as I want to go.

bummer Gerry, did y'all see this coming? Is it going to warm up a little?? Maybe start chopping some wood now!!! Don't mean to rub it in but it was 84 in Spring, TX today.
But you don't have to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Ike!!! I still got the back fence I have to redo (about 1/2 of it) the same part of the fence I repaired 2 months ago after a storm blew thru. Hang in there!!

No big deal Gerry, get some SNOWTIRES and enjoy winters' ride:biggrin: Keep that 'white' stuff in Montana don't send any to Canada except maybe some for Winnipeg (aka Winterpeg). Chime in George if you care to.

I got stuck in my driveway yesterday in my F350 diesel 4x4 pickup, in 4 wheel drive. Took me about 20 minutes to shovel enough snow away from the wheels do I could go. We knew there was a storm coming but it was a lot more intense that anyone anticipated. We got about 16" at our house. At ground level there was about 1-1.5" of slush. The forecast highs for Wednesday-Saturday are 47, 55, 61 and 58. It will all be gone in about a week.

Hi Gerry!

Yep, we had to close our cabin up for the winter this past weekend. Looks like you got worse than we did though. Maybe get some nice carbon fiber skiis?

Scott.

Don't NEED new skiis yet, just bought a pair of Volkl Supersport Allstars two years ago and a new pair of Tecnica racing boots last year. I did buy a new pair of ski poles yesterday though and they're carbon fiber. A new helmet might help me go faster though.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!! My snowmobiles are quite ready for the season yet! But they will be!!!!!!!
