Our 23 year old granddaughter has been diagnosed with alopecia and as a result shaved her head. The wig stand she purchased kept tipping over when she was syling her hair so we made one. The top is cherry burl and the spindle and base are walnut. Finish is three coats of gloss oil poly and a final coat of satin oil poly. Bealle buffed and polished. I hope she likes it.

Our local woodturner club last year made about 18 wig stands for gifts to cancer patients. Used various woods and safe health finishes. Was a great way to help those who suffer from that terrible situation. Hopefully more clubs would consider this a a community project.

My wife knits little hats for newborns and donates them to the local hospital. It sure gives us both a warm feeling knowing some little one will go home with a cozy little hat from a grandma and grandpa that love them, sight unseen. I've sure it's the same feeling with the wig stands and beads of courage. Good on you folks to doing that.
