DOes anyone know who the bogus ebay vendor is who's cited a lot at the hobbitthouse website? What their name is? If you don't want to write it here, could you PM me? He makes it seem like it's obvious and everyone (but me) knows who it is, but since I don't, I want to be sure I don't buy anything from that seller.

Sorry if I posted that in a confusing way. I don't know the name of the person who has the hobbitthouse website, I guess it must be Paul. But I love his site- it's a great resource. But he does help out by showing pix that are of wood that seem to be altered, so that people can know what the true colors are like. There is apparently one vendor that he refers to as the bogus vendor, who he does say he's gotten some good wood from, but alos has gotten wood that apparently looks nothing like the photos that are posted on ebay, at least one of the places where this vendor must sell. So it's that person I'd like to know who is. Understandably, Paul doesn't want to name them on his website that anyone can see. Hope that makes it a little clearer.

The 'bogus' man that Angela and others are looking for is a wood reseller that enriches (read falsifies) the wood that he's selling by making his colours more livelier(brighter)than what the species actually are. Bogus or unreal pictures that are computered altered to give the wood more brilliance than is actually possible. If his identlty is revealed I also would like to know in order to avoid making any purchases from his e-bay site.

I'd also like to know who to be wary of in ebay. Just the other day I noticed some blanks that appeared to be just a little too good to be true .... as in "a tad to brillant". The blanks almost looked to be a result of "inferior photography". It never occurred to me that it might have been intentional.
I need to wake up and smell the roses.
So, please ... who is it? Feel free to email the name in confidence.

Well everybody, sorry to report that apparently no one must know who it is. I haven't heard from anybody with an answer. Just wanted to update people who may have been hoping I could pass along info. Sorry!

Write the seller and ask him.

<br />Frank,

She need to write hobbitthouse...since she is looking to find who the seller is [;)]

If it is offered on eBay there is a feature that allows writing the seller. Either way. Also, getting fact before labeling someone as "bogus" would be prudent.

Frank,

Not sure if you are getting this...but Angela read from hobbithouse site about the seller. She is inquiring if someone here knows who the seller mentioned in hobbithouse is. SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHO THE SELLER IS (ergo she cannot contact them).

Since no one seems to know...her best bet is to go back to the source (hobbithouse) and inquire if they will release the info about the seller they are referring to or not.

EDIT: The caps was not yelling, my apologies if it looked like it though. To clarify it is to emphasize the message.

I just visited the Hobbit House site and read what Angela is referring to. It seems that one seller on eBay is severely doctoring their photos. They sell very nice wood, but feel the need to doctor the photos to make the wood look better than it really is. I'm fairly confident I know who it is, because I bought from them, but for the reasons stated on the Hobbit House site, I'm not naming names. I might want to buy from them again. Plus, I could be wrong.

Gerry,

I also believe I know who they are referring to but not certain so I cannot post it here. Like you, I believe they sell EXCELLENT wood but punches them up still a bit by enriching the photos. It pays off though judging from the bids they are getting.

Dario,

please e-mail this excellent source so that I can visit his site, knowing full well that he is not the 'bogus' man. I am very interested in purchasing some of this 'excellent' yet pricey wood.

TIA
-Peter-
