A couple of days ago my neighbour brought me a bag of old gunstocks.
Yesterday I visited my luthier friend and helped myself from his waste bins. IMG_1221.JPGIMG_1235.JPG

I had a recent much needed "clear out" so that I could actually find that precious piece of "pick your species" that I knew that I had. Now I can begin to accumulate more wood that I promise that I will use at some point, but probably won't. I continue to delude myself like all self-respecting makers. I have had to start storing some larger pieces in my wife's ironing room, which isn't going down that well! Somebody got lots of "good" firewood which readily disappeared from outside my home. :)

I have a very good luthier friend who keeps promising to "clean up " his shop. Mind you, he has been saying that for at least 2 years. I even volunteered to help him, knowing full well that a lot of choice wood would likely come my way, and now having the space to store it :p. He always ends up doing something else, mostly reno work for his neighbors recently, which he uses to help fund his expensive hobby! Knowing the state if his shop (large 2 car garage with high ceiling), I suspect the prospect also has a bearing on things. If you think that you have seen a "lot" (wood & equipment) in a 2 car garage, his shop might surprise you!
