it pours. We are selling our home and tomorrow is the scheduled house inspection. You know, the person who crawls under the house and in the attic looking for areas of concern. Well as you may have heard, Conroe, Texas was under the 'train' of rainstorms that passed over us. My workshop was flooded. I get the carpet fairly dried out, replaced a dry rot board with new board and recaulked it (rain washed all the new caulk away before it dried) placed a 2 X 6 X 7 board and trim in the garage.
I painted the new board this morning leaving the caulked part to dry since we are running out of time. The person comes tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. We get home, after looking at properties - dead tired - and Mary hears a drip, drip, drip from under the sink in the bathroom. Got it fixed. As we are putting the trash container back under the kitchen sink we see water on the cabinet floor - ANOTHER LEAK !!!! Got it fixed, what is next. ??

Shop flooded??? So did my basement. groundwater is so high the pressure well won't stay down. Sounds like you're having as much fun as we are. And we're leaving for AZ in the am.

spit out water.gifGood luck on your travel. I am thinking that in-ground swimming pools will start popping out of the ground too.

"in-ground swimming pools will start popping out of the ground"

I have witnessed that happen several times in Crystal River FL. In fact when they were shooting out pool the workers keep saying they needed to fill our pool before it floated up and out.. they were not kidding... hit water at 6 ft. our well was only 20 feet and pump was only down about 17 feet.

Glad to be back in Missouri after 35 years in the land of sand sun and OLD.

I'm sorry that you guys have had so many issues. Good luck with the inspection and the move. Are you moving to another area or just another house?

The inspector is here now. He showed the buyers the hardy plank I used to cover up some dry rot. Not sure they liked my handi work. Things stopped leaking. The buyers are out in their car wishing we'd leave. We won't.
Our purpose in listing the property in the first place was to open a store. I would have about 20% for making and selling pens and Mary would have the rest for her art gallery. That deal fell through, now we are hoping to relocate closer to the kids. Luke, grandson, is in his first year of flag football. What a hoot to watch them. Tiny guys with big helmets. Reminds you of the bouncing heads on the dash board of cars.

Well, two hours have passed. Did the inspector "screw" your deal, or is he a more reasonable sort? I know a property inspector pretty well. As he puts it, "It is my job to SHOW people where there MAY be concerns, then reassure them that NO house is perfect, so you may be able to negotiate a few bucks off, but don't abandon the deal if you LIKE THIS house!!!"

Hope that line might help you in talking with your prospective new owners!!

Absolutely. You are a real trooper. We are the sellers, however, and could imagine what else he was finding wrong. We are contented. We might stay here. Got any spare cheese?

Yep, plenty of cheese.

But if we ship it to Texas, might be a little "ripe" when it arrives!!!
Heh, heh, well I always did like "sharp" cheese. Wisconsin's best. The kid across the street has one of those cars with a boom box that rattles the windows when he cranks it up. if your cheese arrives in "rare" form, I may stuff some up the tail pipe in his car. Let him work on that for a while. Since we live on a lake, I could do the same with a dead fish, i guess. Went over to confront him and he was higher than a kite. Can't figure it out, because the parents seem well l adjusted, successful Christian people. Guess I am not a very good Christian for judging others, huh?
