After reading Jeff's thread about Elbows I was curious to know what folks use under their feet to make the long hours easier on their feet?

I have industrial rubber matting for my lathe and around the work bench. Since I have to wear orthotics for my feet, this sure helps ease the pain and it also prevents back and neck pain. Here's a picture with the rubber flooring in the background.

If Im not mistaken thats a cordless drill press.

I use the interlocking 2ft squares where I have to stand to work.

I've got the interlocking square from Harbor Freight in my entire work area and then individual mats from Wood Craft in front of my tools I'm standing in front of more.

There is approximately a 12 inch difference between myself and Pete so he built me a platform out of 2X6 fir to stand on in front of the lathe when I use it. The rest of the shop is a cement floor.

A hole for him to stand in would work just as well!!

I have one of those 4 x 4 rubber mats from Lowe's or Home Depot... plus in the summer I stand in a pair of crocks... they fill up with sawdust, but otherwise are easy to stand in... in winter I have to wear regular shoes... but as soon as the feet get cold I quit anyway... my shop floor is wood so it's not too bad to stand on even without the mat.

LMAO........sorry Pete, but that's just to darn funny not to laugh at. On the other hand I guess Marla is getting up in the world.

In front of the lathe I have one of the anti fatigue mats from Lee Valley
In front of the tablesaw, bandsaw and workbench I have those snap together mats designed for kids playrooms. They work good but the Lee Valley one is much better.

Rick,
I have the snap together ones for kids too (yellow, red, blue, green). Can you really tell a difference between them and the Lee Valley?

This is the Lee Valley one that I have and there is a big difference.

I would have the Lee Valley on at all the tools but I could only talk the daughter in law into buying one for Christmas.

LOA

Hmmmm, I seem to usually have Little Orphan Annie (my puppy) underfoot where ever I happen to be. Guess I just don't stand that long at a stretch. I keep a chair nearby and if the back starts to hurt or the feet begin to ache...I sit. There ain't nothin' I'm doin' that I'm in that much of a hurry to get done. My lathe is for fun and relaxation not for making this beat-up old body hurt.
