I just recieved a new cleaner with heat from HF and was wondering what would be the best to use as a general purpose cleaner. Ill mostly use it for like spay can heads, lawnmower carbs and so forth.

You're going to use it to CLEAN something? I thought that was only used to warm up PR and Alumilite.
To vibrate out bubbles.

Learn something new every day.

Glenn ... I have used brake cleaner with great success on gummed up carbs, etc.

One word of caution on using the ultrasonic cleaners ... KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUT of any solution. The ultrasonic vibration will destroy the oil in your finger joints over a bit of time and the body will not replace this material. For the life of me I cannot remember what this 'oil' is medically called, but I have always been told of the ultrasonic dangers ... Just when you thought it was safe to play in the water along comes someone and tells you it is still full of sharks!

Actually have been using an ultrasonic cleaner on my reloading brass(target working only). For everything else, the tumbler works just fine. I use the process called "Clean and Shiny" described in the link given >>>>HERE<<<< The formula is about 3/4th way down the article.

Never heard about ultrasonics taking 'oils' from the joints? Please, if you get a chance, could you link the source or this information.... I have been sticking my hands in the stuff for quite sometime, ECK!!!

Scott (fingers still work okay....) B

Thanks all Ill do some looking being an old gear head the Brake cleaner sounds like it will work on the greasy stuff. Fred I have heard there were adverse effects when putting any extremities in the cleaner while it was on (yes said any for a reason!)
