Hello everyone,

When you have finished you pen's...what do you put it in. I have had a look at some generic boxes from various suppliers however they dont have that WOW factor (For me anyway). I tend to make fountain pens anything from a standard 10mm barrel to an Emperor for an idea of size.

Should I make my own?

Do you make your own?

Is there a secret supplier that I have not found?

Got any pics of your boxes?

Help!

I use this storage case from CSUSA
050-8300 Pen Storage Case/Tray Holds 30 Pens $27.99

I use a couple of the cases Dario mentioned. They work good for multiple pens. If your are talking about single pens, I get boxes from Monty when he does a group buy. The the single should handle the larger pens. I use them for Jr. Gents and Jr.Statesmans all the time. The doubles aren't so accomadating. They barely hold two Europeans. Looks like he is doing a group buy right now:

Bethelehem Olive Wood has a really neat Olive Branch pen box they can do. You might check it out.

Kallenshaan Woods has some really neat boxes/cases that when they are engraved look really sharp.

I am making my own and should be completed by the end of the week and is based on this design. Wish that 'my' money grew on a tree and then I wouldn't need to make one[;)]

Peter,

That looks awesome...my problem with it is bulk or lack of portability. The case I linked to are great when moving around to show prospective buyers. [;)]

I have 3 of those....1 can handle 48 slims and 2 can handle 30 bigger pens each. I also have a few other cases but I use these the most.

For individuals, I use the black cardboard boxes that Monty does group buy on. with minor modification, I can fit even the Emperor in it. [;)]

Actually Dario, it's not that bulky considering that it holds 60 pens in total plus a spare bottom tray. Besides I've been hitting the gym lately and the weight-lifting classes are paying off[)] What ever happened to that old adage "That everything is <s>bulkier</s> bigger in Texas[;)]

<br />BEWARE of those leather pen cases if you use lacquer for a finish. Many of us have learned the hard way about them.

For those of us that don't or haven't used lacquer, what did you learn regarding leather and lacquer?

I learned with my Zepplin FP that Sterling Silver doesn't do well stored in leather.

Leather and lacquer don't go together well. It damages the the lacquer...almost like melting it. I think it is more of the chemicals used in the tanning process though and not the leather itself.

Note that the same can happen with the support bands in other cases, it damages lacquer finish as well. In my case I had one that cured for more than a month before I placed it in the case...still damaged it and left a band impression on my finish (this is on the CSUSA case I posted). No problems with any pens I finished with CA even after months in the case.

Again this is just my experience. YMMV.

I use the trays like Dario, but I also have a rosewood display case with a glass top. Not the best for carrying around, but they are nice for showing the pens.
