We signed up for a couple of top shows and so far, we never accepted credit cards. What are you using for accepting credit card sales at craft shows?? I heard there are different possibilities, like propay etc.
What are the pros and cons?? I can take my cell, but think to bring a computer might be impossible (out door shows, no electricity).

I have been using ProPay for 2 years now. It is about the least expensive one I've found.
I take the CC number at the show (I bought a knuckle buster off EBay) and enter the CC numbers online when I get home. So far no problems with CCs not going through. IMHO, the type of people at these shows are generally trustworthy. I don't think someone with a "hot" card will be buying pens. They are after the more expensive electronic stuff. Also, I assume you accept checks. I'd be more leary that someone misadded something in their checkbook and the check doesn't clear than a bad CC. Like I said, so far no problems.

LOL.....I normally direct them to the ATM right across the street. I'll keep my pens before I'll pay some blankity-blank company for the privilege of selling them! Seriously, be careful when choosing a credit card system; some of them sound very reasonable, but there are numerous hidden fees, and you're usually locked in for 2 years with most of them, so the bad taste lasts a long time. There are a few that aren't too bad to deal with, but they're not necessarily the least expensive-appearing at first glance----be certain that you read ALL the fine print before you USE your pen. And good luck!!!!

I echo Mannie's statement. Started using PayPal 'most 3 years ago and have never had a kick back. I even got the knuckle buster off of Ebay too (mrimprinter) and find that about 50% of our sales are via credit card. Far fewer are check (never a problem either) and cash is about 35%.

With the step up from the lowest level at PayPal you get phone in approvals you can use at shows if you're leery of the size of the sale.

There are other services out there but in the long run for our situation I'm happy with ProPay.

Do you mean propay?? You mention twice paypal, not sure if they have business together. But if mean propay, yes, I would do also the one step up from the basis. I believe its about $60 a year.
