Got this in a grab box of blanks, but don't have a clue what it is. Any ideas? It made an interesting looking pen, curious what it is before I turn any more. Sorry for the funky pix, I was in a hurry....

Thanks for all the responses, the photos of the finished pen don't show as well as the blanks. The finished pen is brownish/grey in the light areas, darker brown in the dark areas (duh!). I would lean towards walnut as well now that y'all have mentioned it. There was some other marked walnut in the box, though it was all darker in most cases. I'm trying to learn about wood species as I learn about pen turning and these forums are filled with folks like y'all, much more experienced than I. And it's good to have something other than a blank expression when someone asks me "Nice pen, what is it?"

Either way is good, I like both walnuts and mangos . Mmm, getting hungry just thinking about the two of them together ....
