I have this nice white pearl cast blank I've been working with..
The stuff cuts, drills and turns like a dream. Not brittle at all but boy does it ever stink when you cut into it.

Anyone have a hint what resin it may have been made from?

It's not that styrene smell you get with polyester resins.. this is something different.. much sharper and it has taken over the whole basement.

Looks and sounds like Acrylic Acetate to me.

AA at first was one of the worst smelling materials I had ever dealt with. Now I'm used to it and don't notice the smell as much anymore but it does penetrate everything for a day or so.

Could be Alumilite too. That stuff cuts a lot better than PR. Was there a label on it when you bought it or was it a swap kinda thing?

From everything I'm reading it sure does sounds like Acrylic Acetate. Thanks!

Hate the smell but wow it does turn and finish nice..
