I keep having the program below that is doing something that Trend security keeps blocking. This started about a month ago. I looked around online (by google searching the program below) and only found scant references to similar programs, but nothing about whether it's something that should NOT be blocked, or what.

I have a Samsung printer, so I am sure that is the source of the issue. I just can't figure out what it's doing that Trend blocks nearly 300 times a week.

The printer is working fine, btw.

Could this be some sort of wormhole or trojan horse?

C:\WINDOWS\Samsung\PanelMgr\SSMMgr.exe

Hey,

It is indeed your printer trying to call home to check for any recent driver updates. I have had the same problem with my samsung laser. In the options box of the Samsung Manager (little icon lower right hand side) I turned 'off' the check for updates option by just unchecking that option. Nothing to really worry about.

Hope this helps!

Mike

The software you installed with your printer is probably trying to contact the samsung site. Maybe to get an update or something. Go to the samsung site and see what "SSMNgr" is. Also you could see if they have any updates and decide whether you want to install them are not.

Edit
I see the Dr beat me to it. That's what I get for being a slow typist:biggrin:

A quick google will tell you that it's a program by Samsung for monitorring the status of your printer.

An uninstall/reinstall of the printer software and drivers with the latest version might fix it. Otherwise you can probably just install the printer drivers without this monitorring program - most printers have a flashing light or similar when they're low on ink or out of paper anyway so you won't need the program.
