Dangit, did a screen capture but can't seem to post it! Library, 2007 assembling a pressure pot. I have regulator and guage. Hose goes in one side with ball valve to turn it on and off. The opposite side, I capped. The bottom of the guage goes into the pot, but when I turn on the valve, hardly any air comes out the bottom. If I take off cap from opposite side of entry side, air flows fast. There is yet another open hole as well, and that is in the regulator piece that has four screws holding it together, hmmm, hard to explain. When I look at the photo in the library, he has a bolt with a t bar jammed in that hole. But no air is coming out of that hole in the first place. I don't get it. All I know is it isn't working.

If I understand your situation correctly, Jeff, every thing is just fine. You have only missed one small detail which makes all of the difference.

That T-handle is actually the adjusting knob for the regulator. Twist it clockwise so it screws into the body of the regulator and you will get more air...higher air pressure to the pot. Screw it counterclockwise and you will get less air.....lower pressure in the pot. You do not control the pressure in the pot by the pressure setting on the compressor except that the compressor setting must be a few pounds higher than what you want in the pot.

If you get a little too much pressure in the pot, you cannot just back off on the T-handle to reduce the pressure. You will also have to bleed off the excess pressure through the safety valve as described in the manual and re-pressurize by gradually adjusting the T-handle clockwise until you get to the pressure that you want.

I think this will solve your problem, unless I have misunderstood your problem. If the above doesn't work, post a few more details and we will get it worked out.

You got it Randy, thanks. I called Roy and got that figured out finally this morning. This is a good lesson for others like me because there is no T handle. That's the root of all the confusion. I thought I was just too dumb, but the part doesn't exist..apparantly someone stole it off the regulator at the store...moral of the story, make sure there is a t-handle on the regulator when you buy a pot! Now I know why it doesn't work, and very much appreciate the info on how to use the t-handle Randy!!! Just one more question then. When the handle arrives from HF, does it require any teflon tape on the threads?

This is silly, but they don't have that part, they are sending an entire new guage/regulator assembly. Guess I'll have a spare.

No need for teflon tape. That handle bears against a metal plate in the center of a diaphram that totally isolates the HP air from the handle side of the chamber. You will be good to go when you get the new part.

Probably could have dispensed with some of the original explanation; but I didn't read your message quite carefully enough and overlooked the fact that the handle was missing. When you get the new regulator, if you can find a bolt with the same thread and of a similar length you can make your self another handle and have two working regulator although I can't imagine what you8 might do with the second one. Only thing you will have to do is look at the end of the new T-handle and see what the tip looks like. It might be flat or round or slightly pointed. You will have to approiximate that shape on your "home-made handle" but it should work just fine.

Maybe this doesn't need to be said; but just remove the handle from the regulator they are sending you and and put it in the one that is already on your pot. No need to change out regulators.

You can actually get away without using the regulator at all. just make sure you have a pressure gauge on the pot and have a regulator on your compressor. We are using 5 pots right now and we don't have a regulator on any of them. I think we did away with them due to their tendency to leak.

Jeff, this might be too late but if you haven't pressurized your pot for the first time here's a tip. Wipe some light oil or WD40 on the rubber gasket in the lid before you pressurize it. Also, put a witness mark on the pot and lid so you can put it back on in the same spot every time. When I first bought mine some guys were having leaks and this helped. I did it and I've never had a leak.
