This is a ring that was found beside a lake in South Carolina that my aunt live beside. It is sterling, and the flags on the front of it were deteriorated, but you can see the colors obviously.

The only thing I can guess is, and I hate to say this, something from a certain "hooded secret fraternity" of "chromatically challenged" racists. I certainly hope it isn't. I know they were active in that area at one point in time and perhaps used the lake side as a meeting place?

Then again it may be something totally innocent like a rotary club emblem.

Admin, if someone confirms that this ring could be interpreted as a symbol of something sinister, feel free to delete the post.

Wow! I am glad it is a symbol of something honorable!

Thanks guys!

I'll have to do a bit of research about the Army signal corps. This is cool. As far as the original owner, I'll ask my aunt if she had any neighbors that were such.

Thanks again a hundredfold!

Great ring!

Shannon...I LOVE all these unofficial service mottos...that really tickled me! Reminded me of Homer & Jethro's version of "Sink The Bismark".:D

I know where your thoughts were headed. [}:)] Glad they got it straightened out. :D

I thought I recognized those signal flags from my Navy days.

For fun here are a couple of acronyms we had for ourselves and others.

ARMY = Ain't Ready for the Marines Yet.
MARINE = My A S S Rides In Navy Equipment
NAVY = Never Again Volunteer Yourself

I can never remember the one for the Air Force.
