...between "Acedic Cure" and "Acetoxy Cure" silicone as it pertains to making silicone molds? I have been reading that the Acedic Cure is preferred, but is Acetoxy the same thing, or not?

I guess you'll just have to buy 'em and see!

Personally, I've used GE Silicone II as well as aquarium silicone. Both work well. But I'm pretty hard on my molds and have found that pourable silicone is better and lasts much longer, so I bought resin savers from NL88 and a 6" slab mold from Gadget.

Still, 99% of my casting is done using 3/4" plastic pipe. ;)

You mean PVC pipe? How do you get the blank out of the pipe after it's hardened?
First of all, put plugs on the pipe that you can remove. If you can't knock the blanks out after curing, modify the pipe with a lengthwise cut. Before pouring, either clamp the pipe closed, or fill the slit with a slice of plastic. It helps to cover the slit with a piece of tape as well.

After curing, untape, and unclamp (or unwedge) the pipe. If the blank doesn't drop right out, splay the cut with the blade of a flathead screwdriver.

I hope that helps,
Eric
