How do you finish PR???Only use CA when it has wood in the casting along with PR??My blue jean blanks I had to use CA to get a high gloss, but that might be due to the PR soaking into the jean material.Thank You,Victor

I turn with a skes and start sanding at 320 and go to 1000 then use micromesh 1500 to 12000. I buff with white diamond and HUT UltraGloss Plastic Polish and finish off with Flitz and ScratchX. All of the buffing may be overkill but I like the results and it doesn't take long to do all 4. Some wet sand the micromesh. Several polishes are available...Novus, Marrs, and others. Are you having any particular problems or just curious as to what others do?
Do a good turn daily!

Victor,

There are two ways that I use. First, micro mesh wet sanded to 12,000. The other is to wet sand to 2000 then use plastic polish, I use HUT Ultra Polish. There are many other ways and lots of advice, these two work for me.

Through 12,000, polish with Hut plastics polish, sometimes Ren wax and I'm done. I don't use any additional coatings on PR. The PR shines well enough.

I agree with Stevers...If you have done a good job with your progressive sanding...you wont need anything else....Now on black and very dark colors that accentuate micro scratches, I use extra caution and I buff with novus 2 plastic scratch remover...A little goes a long way.

Will all polyester resins sand/polish to a high gloss? My blue jean pen blanks need a CA finish to get this nice gloss look, just wondering if its the resin or the way the cloth soaks up the resin?I'm also getting into casting so want to learn the best ways to finish the stuff.I'm guessing that worthless wood casts are always finished with something, and I'm guessing most use the CA?Thank for the great info. everyone,Victor
