Casting the tubes in the resin (you have to know what you want to use it for in advance) or drill and glue?

I'm really getting irritated at how bad a drill and glue can look if the hole isn't thoroughly painted or the glue dissolves it. I had a batch of 4 pens (Zens, long tubes) I had to toss because the epoxy dissolved some of the enamel I put in the hole. I obviously didn't wait long enough for the enamel to dry, but still annoying.

I cast the tubes in the resin this time with the tubes themselves painted and dried with a heat gun. I hope they come out better. Grrr...

casting with the tubes in is def the best........but when i've messed up with glueing the painted tubes in, if i mess up, i'll turn the plastic off the tubes and try it again......i've done that up to two times.....with no ill effects...

Oh, definitely. But if I have spares, I find I'd rather spend 50c to use the spare than the time to part off the old stuff, sand smooth, and try again. I toss the "bad" ones in a ziploc with the name of the kit written on the outside in sharpie and it disappears into the garage, never to be seen again. Especially if I run out of spares and need one...

After wearing tubes out from turning the material off too many times, I started ordering at least a few sets whenever I get a new kit style.
